One of my more formal blog entries but very important today.
Since its founding, The United States of America has overcome many struggles and challenges. Whether united or divided, our country stands on its founding principles, created in 1776. These attributes make the United States different from other countries. Our country is in a disunited state right now. Citizens need to come together like we have so many times before. To move forward and make our country a better place, we must first narrow the gap that divides us all. Three words that describe America include hopeful, passionate, and diverse.
The word hope can be defined as a feeling of trust or desire. Throughout American history, citizens have used hope to come together. In the American Revolution, the patriots had hope which helped them defeat the British Army. During the 1960s, Americans fought for justice with the hope of equality and justice in mind. Americans do not simply give up, they persevere through tough times with a hopeful attitude. Instead of fear and hate, we must fight with love and hope. Hope for our future, our planet, and our minorities. With the power of hope, we must restore our country’s power so that any American can find opportunities and a better life.
In the last few years, Americans have been more divided than ever before. Passion has always been a part of our country but never before has it stemmed from so much hate and fear. Opposite parties have experienced growing tension that reaches beyond beliefs and opinions. We have been divided on the subject of human morality and equality. Leading up to the 2020 election, almost everything is politicized and aimed towards convincing voters and proving that the other side is wrong. Whether formed by a news network or one’s own moral beliefs, passion has broken friendships, which I have experienced, and changed behaviors. Standing behind only their candidate, American citizens have become blind to the opposing party with the thought that only they are right. Not listening to other beliefs and opinions has been common as tension grows and the passion is either motivated by love or hate. We all must take a step back and appreciate other viewpoints. Being passionate is important but it must be out of love and peace.
Diversity is one of the many qualities that makes America different from other countries. America is a blending of cultures, languages, and religions. This country was created with freedom and equality in mind. Though we have had to rise and fight to retain equality, it is an important aspect of American culture. Within our country, there is no “them” and “us.” We are all Americans no matter what our skin color, gender, or social class is. Diversity is never a bad thing and should not be looked down upon. Our country is a land of opportunity that allows immigrants to find a better life. Instead of trying to close our borders along with our hearts, the diversity of this country should be embraced as an important fundamental of America.
The United States of America is a country that embodies hope, passion, and diversity. Though politically divided at the moment, we must once again come together and restore our founding principles. When Americans unite for a common cause, we can move forward in making our country a better place. If we are constantly arguing and disagreeing, how can change occur? How can we save our planet for future generations? We must link arms and set our disagreements aside to grow. The United States of America is a land founded on several principles that must be embraced.
Thank you, Ava. Again, you are one who will change the world with your vision, your passion, your effort in doing your blog, your videos, your writing, your intense caring for the earth and all its people and living things, your proactivity in supporting justice, your positivity and the challenge of working so hard to encourage others that things matter and can be better. You are so strong and you stand up over and over for what you believe in despite the cost to you, and too often there is a cost for all visionaries like you who can’t accept injustice, unkindness or self-centered apathy that ignores the truth of what is harmful to the earth and others. …
Again, Ava, I am so impressed with your knowledge and passion for your beliefs. Our country is divided, and we as Americans need to come together as a nation. The civil unrest is scary, great empires collapse and we are a great nation. If we don't come together, with hope, compassion for all, and find support for one another the USA will collapse, and won't that be such an awful, and terrifying thing to happen. Keep up your love and compassion, and I will as will your family both immediate and extended. It all has to start somewhere, I am will to step up and be a part of the change. Love you, Lady!
Ava, your appeal stressing the common history of Americans...always people from diverse backgrounds, religions, beliefs, opinions, and demographic characteristics...who have nevertheless maintained hope in their country and its founding principles, is so, so important. I am afraid that so many people these days lament the "division" among people by saying "I wish those people on the other side would just wake up and unify with me by getting smarter and agreeing with me!" As I know you know, that does not go far enough. It may not be easy to acknowledge the good will of people with whom you disagree, but it is critical to finding common ground and by doing so, making things better. I wish you the…
Wow Ava, you are my mentor and hero. I feel passionate about so many issues (choice and equality are two you have probably not gone a day of your life hearing about from me) and they are at the core of my being. Your post reminds me that I can have love and compassion for all while staying true to my beliefs. I love you! Whatever you do, you will be amazing including Madame President.
