Dear President Trump,
The United States of America is a country that leads in many things but one important area that we can not be proud of is that we are the 2nd polluter in the world. If you supported and reentered the Paris Climate Agreement, it would not just heal the earth but it would help America. Did you know that 20 of the warmest years on record have been in the past 22 years? Climate change is so impactful that a leader like you can’t ignore it.As a citizen and future voter I hope you will reconsider ignoring the environment.
My name is Reed Garrison and I am writing to you about the Paris Climate Agreement. I am 12 years old and live in Colorado. Every winter I love to get outside and go skiing and every year I can see changes in the climate. I have researched climate change and the Paris Climate Accord and all of the facts point to our responsibility to take care of our beautiful planet. You could be the one to change this horrible mess and start saving our world.
As Greta Thunberg said, “In the United States climate change is something you believe in or don’t believe in and in Sweden it is just a fact.” Many people care about the world and I think you do too but you must act now as a leader. Pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement is not caring for our planet, it is just being a selfish and ignorant country. America is better than this and we need more guidance to show us what is right and then we can do what is right.
I believe that if you entered back into the Paris Climate Agreement it would be a great thing for the world, our country, and you because it would prove that the United States cares about our world. Only two other countries are not in the Paris Climate Agreement. The United States of America is the second biggest polluter in the world and now we aren’t even trying to stop this horrible contribution we make with the other countries. This does not just look bad on our country but it hurts the world more than the other 2 small countries that are not in the agreement.
Imagine what the world would be like if we stopped polluting. The president would have less stress and could focus on other important things like bringing together our nation. Don’t you want all of these what ifs to be over and we just work a little bit every day saving our planet because that is all it takes. By getting back into the Paris Climate Agreement you can show the world and us what America is capable of.
Sincerely,
Reed Garrison
You are a wise old soul who understands the big picture! We need future leaders with integrity, honesty, knowledge, and passion - like you!
Yes I sent it! That’s a good idea😁
What a beautifully thought-out letter, Reed. Keep writing. And, did you send it to the president? I think you should send it to your representative and your senators as well.
I'm looking forward to more posts from you.
Hi Reed, there are so many opinions on climate change and I hope more and more individuals start taking this more seriously. My response to those who do not believe.... is what could it hurt to start doing your part. Improve, improve, improve...... our planet:) J
Love love the letter to the President. Did you send it off to him. I do hope so.
