Ever since I can remember, I have made learning a part of my world. I find joy in the process of being curious about all that I have yet to explore. I believe my life is much more valuable and enjoyable when I am growing and learning. I try to consistently improve myself by setting goals and intentions that guide and inspire me.

I believe education is a crucial tool for making the world a better place. I also believe that I have the responsibility to use the education I receive to the best of my ability. I work hard every day in school and I have always extended my learning independently. During the summer, I set goals for myself that are challenging but I look forward to waking up every day and being one step closer to accomplishment.

It would be a privilege to receive an education at Vail Mountain School. I greatly appreciate and feel gratitude for living in this valley and having all of the opportunities I currently have including the teachers I spend time with and the wide variety of classes available to me.

I attended a march organized by the Parkland students at the Denver Capital last year and was fortunate enough to hear one speak about how students today take education for granted. Hearing this speech opened my eyes to what a privilege education is and I am reminded of this every day.

I believe that everyone in our world is connected and education is a tool that can be used to bring us together and form compassion for all living things. Learning how to interact with others including those who are different from me is very important and a quality I embrace.  This connection can be nurtured through education and will be a valuable quality for the rest of my life.

In my future I see myself working hard and leading by collaborating and encouraging my classmates. I see myself as an activist, a curious person, and a well-accomplished individual. Although I love the subject of math, I am interested in exploring fields of science or medicine. With a good education, I feel I am capable of anything and can choose any path in life.

It is very clear to me that I will need to use perseverance through everything I do. I want to set the world on fire and make a change that has never been done before. Whether it be protecting the earth or curing cancer, I am going to dedicate my effort and time into the path I choose.

Through the great opportunities provided by Vail Mountain School, I feel that I could excel and my mind would blossom with new, innovative ideas and important lessons to be used through life.

As Malala Yousafzai once said, “ With guns you can kill terrorists, with education you can kill terrorism.” Education is important but what I choose to do with my education will be how I change the world.
