Winter Poem

I walk on the freshly plowed road and the snow squeaks and sticks to my boots.
A full moon glistening at only 6:00
The pond as dark as a panther in the distance
My dog beside me with a hockey stick in his mouth
As we arrive the lights flicker on and the frozen pond lights up with a soft glow
My skates crunch the ice
Huck's paws slip and slide like a slimy snake
Ding goes the post as the puck hits it
the loose net swinging around
As I unlace my skates and walk home I can smell the oven cooking in the thin air with the smell of winter

Reed, words that put me there in the cold winter night. Can't wait to skate.... I believe the pond is ready..... 8 degrees this am :)
Reed, this is very evocative writing. You share your cousin Alison’s gift for painting a picture with words. Well done!
I could picture myself right with you on that ice, Reed. thanks for sharing this. I liked it a lot.
