First Flakes

The first sight of snow

is a new beginning

the cold and crystals

flutter down

gently to the ground.

Making a magical

glass globe

of snow.

A winter wonderland

full of cozy joys,

memories,

and frosty windows.

The silence

of snow

is louder

than noise.

The darkness of snow

is filling and soft.

The candles flicker

in a window

as

first flakes fall

outside.

The street is empty

and quiet on a Monday night.

The streetlight shines

with hope as the vacant houses

sit in silence.

The candle burns out

and only serenity is left

on a silent snowy night.

I love your poems Ava. Thank you for sharing the words of winter, I felt like I was in the middle of a mountain towns winter storm. This helps bring in the holiday feeling that is so quickly approaching.

Between Scottsdale Arizona (80 degrees) and Venice, Florida (85 degrees) I am only able vicariously to enjoy your snow poem, although I remember what winter was about. You are a talent!

I devoured this poem like

a famished Wolf

Who encountered the glorious banquet

of words, images, and feelings set free and unbound, shared for all.

Then sat back completely full,

And deliciously happy.

Your words are a gift, Ava. Keep sharing.
