Today I’m going to talk a little bit about the subject of being open to change by giving you an example in my own life. It’s very important to be malleable when it comes to life because things are always changing. It is not kind nor helpful to be stubborn and reject change. I already wrote about the subject of music but it is so important to me and I thought I would share more with you.
I started playing the violin when I was in second grade and until this year I have strictly learned classical music. In January, I joined the school band and it has been a crazy experience. You may be thinking of a "school band" with clarinets and flutes but this is a rock band. We have several electric guitars, singers, drummers, and bass players. Rather than having sheet music or anything to learn from, playing in a band has taught me how to improvise, play by ear, and not be perfect. Since I am the only violin in the group, I have a lot of freedom and don’t have to match anyone else.
Below I have attached one classical piece and a soundtrack that I made for band. People can apply this lesson to their own life by being open to new things and changing it up.
If you are wondering, our the leak is still not fixed and we cannot turn our water on because it will fill the hole.
Stay open,
Ava
Oh, my dear Garrisons, may your water be restored soon. Nancy, you may remember the saga of the ranch water well pump from the late 80’s. If I remember correctly, it went something like this: Pump failure, the the calling of the repairman, the delay of his arrival for a day or two since he “goes all over the state,” the sweet relief when he arrived, the happy sound that the repaired pump made when it went on; watching him drive away; the sad sound of the repaired pump failing about five minutes after he left “to go all over the state;” the call to leave a message on his answering machine hoping he’d pick it up in his off…
Although I am desperately wanting a hot shower right now (and water)... you brought me an escape and I forgot how miserable I am for a bit. Thank you for that. I love you!
