Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Day 38 of Quarantine: Stay Improving

Total cases (US): 848717

Total deaths(US): 47659

The other day I was thinking about how our world will be different when the outbreak ends. There are certain things that will be better after we are out of quarantine and here are a few of them to shift your perspective and bring positivity.

1. More Knowledge:

People will be more informed about how to wash hands and prevent diseases. This will hopefully help people stay healthy from basic viruses spreading like the flu.

2. New Ways of Living:

Many new conveniences have come out of this including online grocery shopping. Our family has been using this a lot and we will probably continue with it even after quarantine is over. Rather than walking through aisles and browsing, which leads to impulse purchases, we are able to purchase what we need, and only what we need.

3. More Online Communication:

Before, most people were not used to communicating online and through Zoom but now it is necessary. I think that people will feel more comfortable connecting through the internet because of this experience.

4. Small Lessons

I don't know about others but I have definitely learned a few things over quarantine. Time management has been critical for me to get my work done so that I can have time in the afternoon to do whatever I want.

5. Accepting Boredom

Accepting the feeling of boredom has taken a little pressure off of getting things done. I have tried to be okay with not having much to do and it has made me feel more relaxed.

6. Political Information

No matter what your political beliefs are, a lot of people have become more aware of our government's responsibility. People who may not have been involved in politics will now know who their governor is and what impact they have.

7. More Organized

Although it was somewhat organized before, the order at my house has greatly improved. My family has had the time to go through and clean our house and it has paid off!

8. Environmental Problems

With not many people driving, the pollution in many cities has gone down dramatically along with gas prices. Who knows what will happen next, but at least we had a break from excess harm and environmental strain.

These are great things that you have come to recognize about you, your family, and the world. Just so you know, I used to be a personal shopper for people when I worked at Whole Foods in Boulder. Even though I was the shopper, I always thought, "this is such a great service, especially for moms with little ones, full time working people, or just because"

Ava, you and I are on the same wave length. One of the things I've been writing (internally so far) is how this crisis may change the way we are and the way we live. A few other topics are ahead of it, but I hope you'll like it as much as I liked reading yours.

Ava, May I share this with my students? I am assigning an end of the year writing project about how we have growth and what we have learned. This is a perfect example!
