Being considerate is a contagious act. It can be incredibly easy to care for our immediate family and close friends but we have to open our arms even wider. People have birthdays, students have graduations, the spring is an eventful time. Just reaching out can make someone feel so loved. Again, life moves on and we have to make the most of it.
An example of consideration is the staff at my high school. Through this week they are personally calling each family to check in and delivering a gift at each student's home. This gesture of kindness makes each student not feel forgotten in this time of isolation. I was inspired by my grandmother who drove in a small parade to celebrate her friend’s 90th birthday. It even made the newspaper! Yesterday morning when I received the image, I exclaimed, “You’re famous!” This act of thoughtfulness goes a long way. We have to care and think outside of the box. Anyway, I think it is such a cute picture and I wanted to share the love with you. Here are some suggestions for being considerate:
Leave some flowers on a neighbors doorstep for Easter (or really any occasion.)
Plant a tree or some wildflowers (because the earth deserves kindness too.)
Leave a positive affirmation on a stranger’s windshield when you go to the store (such an easy task but can go incredibly far.)
Start a change jar to donate to a nonprofit
Make eye contact and smile while keeping social distancing.
If you know any children without siblings in your neighborhood, drop off some of your favorite books, puzzles, and activities.
When you go out for a walk, take a bag and pick up some litter.
Write a letter and mail it to a friend or family member instead of texting them.
I hope these acts inspire you to spread kindness.
Stay considerate,
Ava

Your grandma is so great. Thanks for the words of wisdom. I do say hi to almost everyone I pass when outside, even if they want nothing to do with me. HA! I also pick up trash when I can, thanks for the reminder to continue.
That's a great idea! We made goodie bags for the 65 paramedics/EMTs in Eagle County and dropped off more at the hospital for nurses. It felt good to DO something! I am brainstorming ideas for a book drive to distribute books to neighborhoods in the valley who need them but haven't quite figured it out yet. Doing things for others really helps us feel connected and productive.
Thank you for your posts Ava. So glad you are in the world. And your Grandma, too! You both are so good at living in a way that spreads enthusiasm and love!
