Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Day 3 of Quarantine: 8 Ways To Help

Total cases (US): 9259

Total deaths(US): 150

While sitting at home, you may be wondering, "What can I do?" Today I am sharing 8 influential acts of service so that you can discover your inner Mr. Rogers. These tips will help you make the most of your quarantine time while continuing to take social distance seriously.

1. Buy Gift Cards To Local Restaurants

We all know that local businesses are struggling but restaurants are being hit hard right now. Not only are supermarkets bare but people aren't interested in leaving their house and going out to eat (I don't blame them!) You can help these restaurants by buying gift cards to use later. This provides income for the eatery and a gift card for you to use at a better time.

2. Facetime!

It may seem like you are all alone in this but everyone is feeling the same sense of isolation. Facetime, Zoom, Skype, and other video chat tools are a great way to connect. Now is a perfect time to take advantage of all of our amazing technological resources.

3. Take Advantage of FREE!

There are SO MANY free resources that you can use. Follow this link to 450 Ivy League courses you can take online right now for free! It is amazing to see all the possibilities and things you can learn for FREE!

4. Clean and Organize

Now is the time to give your home the love it needs. With plenty of time to rearrange, and simplify there is no reason not to tidy up your space.

5. Make Yourself Available

Sending a message to your neighbors or senior citizens in your area can be very influential. Even if you do not go and visit or come into contact with them, They will feel comforted and less alone by knowing you are there. This is a simple task but an important act of service.

6. Leave Generous Tips

"Anything helps" is a commonly used phrase that is very relevant today. Those who cut your hair, clean your home, mow your lawn, walk your dog, teach your exercise class, do your nails, and watch your kids are striking out right now. Showing empathy for these workers is very kind and can go a long way.

7. Limit what you post online

With everyone using the internet for their updates and information, it is important to stop spreading fake news and gossip. It is easy to repost or share something that strikes you but be sure to check your facts. This helps in reducing unnecessary panic and helping others make responsible choices.

8. Self Care and Happiness

Positive affirmations are proven to boost your mood and productivity. For, inspiration countless apps help you re-center and remind you to be your best self, once again, for FREE! Some of my favorites are Smiling Mind, and ThinkUp but click below to find more!

Stay optimistic,

Ava
